About Us
Since 1996, Cancer Support Community Delaware (CSCDE) has been a trusted source of strength, education, and connection for individuals, caregivers, and loved ones affected by cancer. As the only organization in Delaware focused entirely on the emotional and psychosocial impact of cancer, we offer programs that empower, uplift, and meet people wherever they are in their journey.

All of our services are led by licensed health professionals and provided at no cost, thanks to the generosity of donors and community partners. Our commitment to health equity centers on access, affordability, and inclusion. We work closely with cancer centers and community health organizations throughout Delaware to ensure everyone can receive support that fits their needs, regardless of income, identity, or location.
Our Mission & Values
As an affiliate of the national Cancer Support Community, CSCDE is part of a larger movement to uplift people impacted by cancer, foster compassionate communities, and break down barriers to care.
Our mission is grounded in the belief that community is stronger than cancer. Three core values guide everything we do:

Access
Programs are available at no cost to those who need them.

Affordability
No one should face financial barriers to support.

Inclusivity
We serve all people affected by cancer, including those in historically under-resourced communities, through in-person, virtual, and hybrid programming.
While we are proud to be part of a national network, our work is deeply rooted in the local community. Every dollar raised stays in Delaware, supporting individuals, caregivers, and loved ones across the state.

What We Offer
Our programs are designed to support the whole person — mind, body, and spirit. These include:

Support Groups
Individuals with cancer and their caregivers, organized
by diagnosis or shared experience

Healthy Lifestyle Classes
Exercise, nutrition, art therapy, and meditation

Educational
Sessions
Sessions led by experts in cancer care and survivorship

Social Events
Gatherings that bring people together and raise critical funds
All offerings are led by licensed health professionals or other experts in their field, and are available statewide, in person and virtually. We work in close partnership with hospitals, clinicians, and community organizations to ensure that care is coordinated, compassionate, and easily accessible at every stage, from diagnosis to survivorship.

Our History and Impact

Cancer Support Community Delaware, formerly the Wellness Community, was founded in 1996 by survivors, caregivers, and advocates who believed no one should face cancer alone. Inspired by the national Wellness Community movement, they opened the first center in Wilmington and later expanded to Dover and Rehoboth Beach.
Today, CSCDE is one of over 90 network partners nationwide, but our mission remains deeply rooted in Delaware. We serve thousands of individuals, caregivers, and loved ones each year through no-cost programs that provide emotional support, practical guidance, and a strong sense of connection.

The results speak for themselves:
88%
of participants feel less alone
87%
report increased happiness
82%
regain a sense
of hope
